Shark fin aerial

I have one of the fitted to my golf and was wondering if these are fancy aerials. Its about 1.5 to 2 inches high and a faded black colour unless I polish it. Are these for gps, dab, fm or all?

I know its kinda vague without a photo or to see whats inside the dash but any help would be good, thanks.
