Belt at 80k, DSG fluid changes (if you're into that) every 40k (earlier if you're nice). S'about it.

It's 80k or 4 miles, whichever is first.

+1.

Get all the work done at 4 years, irrespective of mileage IMO

My service book shows the belt change at 60k or 4 years but VW told me it had changed to 40k or 4 years. Anyway mine is due and it was around £450 at the stealers, £300 at an independent VW specialist with genuine parts and including the water pump or £200 at some dodgy arse place!

Lads,

How can there be such a discrepancy between 40/60/80/120k miles lol? Some of you won't even do 0-40k miles in your cars, and some won't take it anywhere near 90k either.
Surely only one can be the official recommendation from Dub themselves?

Some it is because of poor dealer info and it will also change during the years of production of a particular model.

Take the brake fluid service intervals, this changed on the 08 model year from something like 2 years or 30K to 3 years without a mileage stipulation.

I'm at 57k miles now Steve on an 06' plate, so I'm wondering whether I should do the cambelt tomorrow or whether I can wait till 60/80k obviously, which is why imo the guidelines can be misleading, as everyone says a different figure?

I appreciate that belts breaking probably isn't that common on MK V's compared to other makes/models.

Cheers.
Pete

It's 4 years regardless of mileage. I did mine just before 4 years cos quite frankly I had the money at the time. Total overkill actually the belt that was taken off was next to brand new! There are numerous posts on this debate.

Who are we to argue with Vw ? Lol I mean if we don't stick to the schedules and the worst happens we're left high and dry.

92k miles so far.

As I say for me with the variable service they recommended belt change at 80k miles or 4 years. I got mine changed at 60k miles as I dropped mine in for DSG fluid change as well.
