19" wheels rubbing !
« on: September 15, 2013, 08:18:22 pm »
Hello people , I've got a mk5 pirelli edition with KW v3 suspension and I'm having problems fitting my new 19" wheels . They seem to rub on the front arches . They are 19x8.5 et45 with pirelli 235/35/19 tyres . I've seen all your nice cars on the forum with 19's so they must fit . Should I of gone for 225/35 tyres ? I've heard I've got to take a screw out from under the arch? But I can't see how a small screw head is going to help ?
I've tried to upload some photos to show but I can't find how to do that either ?
Any help will be grateful .

Many thanks
S.

What offset are your rims?
Without traction power is nothing!

You'll need 215/35 tyres....

You can mess around with whatever it is you like but ultimately unless you put 215/35 tyres on you will rub.

I have 215/35 on 8.5 and it's not a "big" stretch.

removing the screw and a bit of plastic will help. But not with 235 tire...
Perhaps rolling fenders...

show us how low it is  :innocent:

Pictures are not going to help anyway, as said above you need a bit of stretch on your tyres or some camber adjustable top mounts. I had ( back in the day ) the same spec wheels and tyres and had to swap out my shocks for some that gave camber adjustment. It also helps going round bends faster.
the easiest option is to just swap your tyres out.  :happy2:

Pics work! Like Top Cat said, changing your tyres will be your easiest bet!
