Intake manifold runner?

Ive got an intake manifold runner control fault which could be causing me to get a lumpy idle when starting my car. Does anybody have any info on this and where it is located? Also what does it do? My fault is saying basic settings aborted - mechanical flap shut? Cheers.

If you have a vcds cable the try doing the basic setting

Prerequisites:
 Ignition ON
 Engine OFF
 System voltage at least 11.0 V.

[Select]
[01 - Engine]
[Basic Settings - 04]
 Group 142
[Go!]
 Activate the Basic Setting.
[ON/OFF/Next]
 Wait until Field 4 shows "ADP. O.K.".
[Done, Go Back]
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]


 Switch Ignition OFF for at least 60 seconds.
Without traction power is nothing!

I've tried the basic settings and get the error again at step 30 of the process?

Unplug the motor, turn on the ignition, turn off the ignition, plug back in, clear codes, run adaption.

Give that a shot.

You might have the makings of a failing injector.

Run logs and check for live idle mis- fires on each cylinder

It could be...
If you run the output test in vcds for the motor you'll be able to see if the actuator arm is sticking or not by looking at it.
Without traction power is nothing!

open vcds>engine>output test 03



then select Intake manifold flap from the drop down list



While the test is running the actuator arm should move to fully open and close the flaps

Right ive looked at the actuator rod and it doesnt move when tested with vcds. I can move it down and back up freely byhand but when testing the output it moves upwards slightly then just doesnt go any further?

Could something be jaming it?

I'm no hardware expert but I suspect your flapper motor unit needs changing.

Found a DIY for you if you plan on doing this yourself.

Please note that if your unit has a letter on the end of its part number (mine was 06F 133 482B) then get the latest E version. VW will want a little over £180 for one. If your unit has no letter on the end of its part number i.e. 06F 133 482 then you need to replace it with the same part number.
