Anyone recommend custom map tuners in Scotland??
« on: October 19, 2013, 01:12:19 pm »
Hi all,

Planning on going stage 1 on my standard mark 5 GTI ( apart from a pipercross panel filter) and wondering if anyone here has had a custom map done that they were happy with.

Couple of REVO tuners I know of are about but I am led to believe the map is quite aggressive.

Read all about R tech but I think that would be too far to travel especially if there was any issues with the car which wouldn't allow a remap (although the car is standard and seems solid enough).

Any comments much appreciated  :happy2:

Autohaus Edinburgh- APR maps, konzeptauto glasgow- revo, might do customs as well. Revo is not too aggressive IMO but each to their own.

I've just had revo stage 1 and dsg done on mine..

Wouldnt say its all that aggressive.. depends on how you are with your right foot..

If you give it the beans you'll certainly notice the difference but its progressive along with your right foot..

Cheers guys will do some more research on REVO then!

Did yous make any changes to the car before the map was done? DV, clutch etc?

Car is a manual with 67k on the clock.

I have a cat back R32 style miltek, Forge Twintake as well as a pre-cat delete.

Was going to get a BCS downpipe and hi-flo cat along with a GFB DV+ but didnt have the time to order prior to getting it mapped..

I'll get round to ordering the dumpvalve soon though.

Nice one, what bhp you putting out?

Forgot to mention I fitted a rev G DV aswell, (although im convinced all is not 100%, seems to be hesitant when you put the boot down for a couple secs before the turbo kick, as before it felt instant

I just had the stage 1 map done. Have now booked into konzept to get revo intake, downpipe, sports cat and rev G valve.

I have fitted other parts for maintenance reasons, new timing belt, water pump, PCV etc.

I would advise get the boost issues looked at fist before you go for a map. Once this is sorted the I would advise getting the stage 1 first and see how you like it and how the car responds. If all is well and you like it do the intake, downpipe. You could also go to stage 2 at that point.

I haven't done a dyno so my BHP figures etc will be estimates. I expect after my recent mods have happ I should be in the region of 260 to 270 BHP. Do you know anywhere that has a decent rolling road in the glasgow/edin area?

very few tuners offer "custom" work i know Niki at R-Tech does.

Most of these "custom" mappers just download generic code and load it

I don't know anywhere mate, im in Inverness but don't mind traveling down to the central belt. There is a guy up my way but don't know anyone who has used him and was just after some feedback from people on here on what and who they recommend.

Timing belt, water pump was done at 60k and rev g DV but I definatly have a boost issue it seems very hesitant after it been fitted for some reason

Yeh the guy was recommended on another forum, he has an edition 30 which is over 400bhp.

Autohaus is also good, used them a lot but they stopped doing revo maps and now only do apr
