TDI 170 CR Cambelt change
« on: October 26, 2013, 01:34:07 pm »
Currently looking at a 2009 170 CR Jetta with 79k on the clock and there is no record of the cambelt being changed. The dealer is sure the change interval on the newer CR engines is 5 years/100k miles but isn't sure.

I didn't know there was such a thing as a TDI 170 Jetta, but apparently there is!

Any thought on the cambelt change interval?

I'm having no luck finding a 170 Jetta "2009"

Can see CPRA 170 Jetta but that's 2013 spec.

When I look at that I get an engine code CEGA  so I don't know what the CR stands for?

Is it not the same as the MK3 Octavia VRS?

This is the Jetta. On the face of it, it seems like a good deal but i haven't taken it for a test drive yet.

Absolutely.

MK2 Leon FR TDIs, Mk6 Golf GTD's, A3 8P3's, Octavia VRS TDI's (Mk2 facelift) and Jetta's all use it from memory.
Anything between late 2008 and late 2012 will use it if it's the 170ps block.

It's just me being a jerk  :rolleye: -  trying to put CR into the engine code so I can find which engine code is fitted?

So what engine code do you think is fitted?

Had a look at the car and it just wasn't for me. Nothing fundamentally wrong with it but you could tell it had been driven hard and not maintained regularly.
