Lowered cars - Australia

Watched a video on Youtube where the police over in Australia were sticking people on and seizing their cars because their cars were too low!

Never heard of it happening the UK! They claim it's safety their upholding by enforcing the strict lowering standards, but how come? Is there any logic to it? A car is firmer on the ground and handles better when lowered (although ofcourse not when it's sitting on the ground!)

What's their fascination with it?! Anyone know?

If the car is so low that the wheels rub it is arguably a safety issue in my opinion

Agreed but i've seen sreiously lowered cars running find with various alterations/spacers/tyre choice etc etc. Just can't understand their rationale.

May be because some people don't use the correct parts to do it and "bodge" it e.g. chopping springs or even removing them to get the desired look therefore compromising safety.

We own them. That is all :p

I just find the difference in attitudes interesting. Both countries are developed and have a healthy automotive industry, yet one country allows pretty much any modification whilst the other treats any kind of modification with suspicion and bans it. Just wondering if their was an actually reason as opposed to people driving nicer cars than OEM.

Very true, although I suspect that would be illegal here aswell ie : chopping springs rather than coilies!

You can lower your car in OZ... but your subframe has to be either 70 or 100mm off the deck... IIRC!

Surely in Australia everything is upside down so your Subframe would be like.. 8000mm off the ground (as in, roof height)
