Ticking noise, (in cabin) (((SOLVED)))
« on: November 04, 2013, 10:03:26 pm »
Hey guys, not had the car long but only just noticed this.

i only noticed it happens when the engine is warm too(i tried it when it was cold again), its like a ticking noise that's constant but i can only hear it from inside and whilst idle.

anyway i found a video which is the exact same noise i can hear, anyone have any idea what it is? It seems as though the revs drop off slightly, if i touch the accelerator a tiny bit and bring the revs up it goes away.

just for clarity mine is a 07 plate Ed30, under warranty too.

Isn't the ventilation motor fan failure - do a search on it you get some strange sounds when the fan gearbox fails!

but why would the noise go away if the accelerator is pressed to add a couple more revs?

thanks for the replies  :happy2:

Next time you're getting the car scanned do an output test on module 8 for the HVAC system.

This will test all the motors etc and you'll hear the noise then, if it's what we think it is.

I had a noise which I could only hear on tick over inside the car, with a bit of research I found out it was a clip that comes loose from the fuel pipe, it's located at the back of the engine drivers side. I'll take a picture when I get a moment. might not be that but solved the noise on mine, hope this helps mate

honestly im still looking into it.. i only get the weekends to fiddle with the car when its not pissing it down,

I looked in the engine bay drivers side and could not see or move anything that was loose, one plastic clip was loose but I doubt it was that.

I am gonna have a proper inspection this weekend, when the car is cold and warm, i will post the outcome, although for now it does seem to be intermittent... the noise comes and goes.

Does yours do the same or is it constant no matter what the conditions?

Yeah it did it when it was still warm, around 80-90.

Exactly the same as mine. Not cheap to get fixed though cost me just over 600 quid, but defo worth the money. Where are u based if near the midlands I can recommend the garage that did mine and another forum members car.
