Wiring an Amp to an RNS-510
« on: November 25, 2013, 05:23:45 pm »
I'm pretty much there, just have a quick question. Where do I wire the remote cable for the amp too?
There isn't a pin thing in the hole that is marked 'amp' on the wire thing that plugs into the back of the RNS510. Do I put it into the one labelled 'power'? Or will this cause it to stay on and then drain the battery?

Sorry if this doesn't make much sense, but this whole thing was a nightmare! Had to get a LOC and passing the wires through the car was horrible  :sad1:

Thanks a lot

Use a fuse tap (eBay around £2) to a switched live in the fuse box. Use a multimeter to test the fuse sockets for a 12v source only when the ignition is on.

I read that you can just use the pin labelled 'power' but doing this leaves the amp turned on.. unless I completely messed up and stuck the remote cable in another slot?
If I go for the fuse tap option, would this do the job? Ebay no: 251170199430

Thanks a lot!

Use this one mate :) 251170198363

Not sure if they're is a switched live on the mini fuses.  On my fuse box my switched live is on the bottom row 3rd from the right (It's for the Cigarette socket).  All fuse boxes are different though so make sure with a multimeter  :happy2:.  Also you need to make sure you have a fuse in each of the holes in the fuse tap.
