Another one to keep me busy

Alright guys

As some of you may be aware Christmas is just around the corner so what else to add to the list but car parts?

The golf is having a problem with heating, if it sits long enough it will get to 90, but as soon as I start driving it will drop which is a load of sh!te!! Drove 60 miles the other day and at the end it barely got above 65

So my question to you, is this a result of the coolant sensor or the thermostat sensor or something else? What ever it is how easy is a diy? Or should it go to a garage?

If my old MK4 was anything to go by, this could be either of 3 things.  Coolant temp sensor, thermostat or just air in your cooling system.  I recently had my cambelt replaced and there was still air in the system.  After I bled the air out, I had no more issue with the water temp getting to 90.

I had my cambelt changed recently at a vw specialist so I assume they would have bled any air out whilst in the process?

I'm not getting hot air through the vents either if this helps determine anything, on a frosty morning it takes about 5 to 10 minutes before I can even think about driving
