Mk7 R Build thread now up

£20k give or take where as decent RS3's start from around £25k. The £5k i save by gettting and R gives me plenty of modding wiggle room.

The R's seem to be holding their money at the mo and hardly any around either.

The RS3 is a beauitful looking car, sounds the dogs too. The RS4 would be the weapon of choice...

Goodluck with whatever you choose matey...  I do really like the Mk6 Golf R, looks kinda badassed... with 4x4 , and a some added mods, could be made to go fast and handle well.

You're correct though. Mk6 R Stage 2+ parts, brakes and coils and some aesthetic parts and bobs your mothers brother....an awesome car.


Once the Mistress is sold I'll get started in anger.

The Mistress has been sold and has gone.   

Now all I need is a mint low miles 3dr Tornado Red DSG R or Red RS3. Let me know if you come across anything chaps!

I don't blame you though, when you're running high power you really need the awesomeness of 4WD, not boring at all, the grip is just amazing.

The 6R is rare so it may take a while to find one in the spec you want, don't see many red ones at all.

Thanks and yeap...I need that 4WD as minimum is going to be Stage 2+.

I'm patient so will happily wait for the right car. There are a lot less Mk6 R's around than the newer Mk7 ones so I may be waiting a while!

Waiting for the right spec is the best thing to do, glad I did with my Golf R. The first modification you need to do is enable XDS through VCDS on it, guys over on the VWROC.com forum are doing this and it makes a big difference to the way it drives (and it's free!). I also went straight to stage 2+ with my R and I don't think I'd do it differently if I started again now.

Tornado Red mk6 R is an excellent choice. Pretty much an updated Mistress, without traction issues, that's ready for whatever power you throw at it.

You are absolutly spot on, I'll go straight to 2+ too with all supporting mods as well. I'll PM you once ive found an R re the XDS set up. Having come from a stage 2+ Eddy Itll be hard to wait for a similar performance for long.

I saw that couple of weeks ago and phoned them the day that appeared on Autotrader....they had already taken a deposit......GUTTED., it's  the EXACT car I want. Every day I go onto Autotrader it's there smiling at me.
