I'm surprised how well the 6R is holding its value, didn't expect it. :pomppomp:

They are indeed and rightly so, The MK5 R32 commanded high prices and still does considering their age. Good Edition 30's a still fetching £10k.

However over time MK7 R's I think will not do as well due to the market been saturated with them and probably 90% are leased. Must see 2-3 MK7 R's a day on my commute to work, Never seen another 6R since buying mine on the road! The 6R is a far better looking car too IMO anyway.

Yeah, ive phoned twice and I'll phone again tomorrow....just to annoy them!

I'm old school so paying cash which rules out £25k+ cars.

 :congrats: Good for you mate!

That is my attitude also, Word of warning though....Don't join VWROC. I did but have now removed my build thread and no longer actively post on there. I once mentioned on a thread that if I cannot afford to buy something I go without. Also the fact that I prefer to work hard and save for my purchases rather than leasing a Car that is never going to belong to me and then giving it back after 2 Years. That I have a sense of satisfaction by doing this and I get the reward at the end for my efforts by being able to buy whatever it is I have saved up for and I feel I appreciate it more for doing this.

I got Lynched on there by pretty much everyone "The Lease Brigade" I was told I was a fool for having my mentality.

My MK6 R is the most expensive car I have ever purchased and previously I have mainly been involved with Owners clubs for older cars of lesser value and generally the majority of other members are in the same boat and also have saved and own their cars, On VWROC some of the members are very different, Not enthusiasts at all just people who Lease a MK7 R because they can afford a Monthly payment.

I don't think I have ever been on another Owners club with so many people that have the "Live for today and if I can't pay for it someone else will" Attitude.

^^^^ I agree BUT for many that is their only way to own a car letalone a nice one.

I'm on vwroc as im always looking in their classified and yes ive noticed the "lease brigade" getting sh*tty with people on there. One chap leases his car and is further finacing his BT and has bought various parts from certain online stores that offer credit etc.......but ETTO.

Leasing/financing or getting a personal loan for a car is a great way to obtain a car that would be out of your reach normally, it's personal chioce and once again......ETTO.

I am fortunate (or lucky enough) to be able to save for a car as I usually keep each car between 5 or 6 years. I'd happily lease a Mk7 R400 or a new RS3 but I'd not feel comfortable modifying it as i feel it's not really mine, im borrowing it. I believe modifing a leased car is also not allowed but I could be wrong.

I'd rather buy a car, know it's mine 100% and do what I like to it, be that good or bad.

I'm with you on that. Just the way I was brought up.

It's nice knowing something is all yours. It's the reward for working hard for something.

I could be driving a mk7 R if I wanted. But I reckon I'd be uncomfortable trying to treat it as mine. Give me my old mk5 any day

I cannot (alas) get a B8 or B8.5 S4 as those are my brothers last car and current car. I will get a car for half that price and see if I can keep up although his current S4 Black Edition only mods are a Miltek TBE and stage 1 map and that's properly bonkers quick, not sure of bhp.

His 2 tonne Avant S4 is a lot quicker, we've only ever stretched our legs against each other on 1 occasion, flat out I was close but not THAT close. His car is so smooth, so planted and can carry a sofa, the dog and the kids!! It's a proper "grown ups" toy.

(I'll never tell him any of that )
