OEM headunits - do you switch yours off or not
« on: December 16, 2013, 05:48:29 pm »
I've noticed with my RCD510 that when key is turned to 1st position the splash screen starts up, then  when  I start the car, it kind of has a power cut & starts all over again.
Will this do it any harm?, presumably there's a hard drive in there & I don't want to keep crashing it?
Do you manually turn yours on & off?

When you start the car, the ignition cuts power to the headunit to ensure maximum current is available for the starter motor.. but don't worry about the RCD510, or any of the other OEM headunits for that matter; I have the RCD in my mk6 (from the factory) and it does the same thing  :happy2:

p.s. it's only the RNS510 that has a hard drive

cheers John
