ITG heatshield keep on or off, also how to clean ITG filter
« on: December 21, 2013, 12:50:48 pm »
Am sure I remember somewhere I read that the car performs better with the heat shield removed, is that really the case? If so will be removing it tonight to see the differnce.

I was also wondering would I be able to wash the ITG filter simply with water and let it dry overnight or does it need oil or the ITG spray available online

I wouldn't reccomend rinsing it with water.. I'd get the proper cleaning kit that will come with the oil needed after cleaning.

The oil in these filters help catch and contain the particles from the air.

Absolutely do rinse it. Get a kit to refresh it. Comes with cleaner (smells like AG wheel cleaner) and oil.

Apply the cleaner to the outside of the filter and let it soak. Then rinse it from the inside out. Then let it dry completly as the oil if needs be.

I ran mine off.  I also added some ducting to feed cold air from the fog area.

I have just fitted the new Revo intake and haven't yet fitted the heat shield.

Recently bought an ITG, the heat shield is no longer given, instead you get some ducting.

The heat shield got quick a bit of stick for its aesthetics in reviews.
