Car Rental (EU usage)
« on: December 23, 2013, 07:42:17 pm »
This year I took the Audi when me and two mates drove to the 'ring. Next year, we're looking at car rental as we either don't have suitable vehicles size/economy wise or don't want to pile 1,000 miles on in one go (again, in my case).

There's 5 of us going this time. Can anyone recommend a well priced and solid car hire company that don't charge the earth for driving in the UK & mainland Europe?
Ideally we'd get something DSG or semi-auto and of course a TDI. I've looked at a few Jetta and Passat's like this one below, but they're the wrong side of £250 or perhaps that's about right?

All of the drivers will be 27+.

Thanks.
Pete

With 5 of you splitting the costs it's not really worth looking for the cheapest just what suits your needs is more important I think -- try europcar

We're not looking for the cheapest, well priced and reliable as mentioned  :happy2:
I'm not sure on the European side of things tbh, given that the options I've seen are unlimited mileage, does that mean anywhere in the EU?

I don't want to be hit with loads of hidden charges for driving abroad, hence the thread to learn from other peoples experiences?

Ta.

I hear what you say my concerns would be breakdown that's why I would go for a Europe wide institution - other than that I,m not privy to give advice on Europe driving experiences just try cover all angles , hope this helps

I always use a company like "holiday autos" they will search for the best deals from all the major companies like hertz, avis, etc and they are always cheaper than if you booked direct through these companies. Also if you book through a cashback website I use "topcashback" you can get some money back aswell.

Just beware of the extras when you collect, doesn't matter who you use there is always some sort of extra you have to pay for on collection  :fighting:

Enjoy your trip, I love going to Germany  :happy2:

I run Mk7 GT TDI DSG's on my fleet if any good?  We specialise in European hire.  Or if you really want to push the boat out we have an Edition 25 VW Caravelle DSG?  Let me know if you want a quote on either?
