A question about insurance details....
« on: December 30, 2013, 07:30:03 pm »
Just wondering if there's a member on here who works in the car insurance industry who can answer a question for me?
I can't remember if he's on here or another forum I look at!

Well it's to do with the recent passing of a family member.
His car insurance was due for renewal in January.Obviously we'll contact his current insurer to inform them but will his name be removed from all the databases that insurers use as we feel that there'll still be loads of junk mail coming thu for the next few months with offers and such,so really my question is that if we tell the current insurer about his death,is there some sort of procedure to remove his details from sales databases to avoid getting tedious and possibly upsetting junk mail?

It is impossible to stop junk mail - speak to the postman that delivers to the family members address who may be able to do something about it

You could write RETURN TO SENDER. NOT KNOWN AT THIS ADDRESS. They'll have to pay for the return postage. I have done this a lot and it works.

If his insurer is Direct Line/Churchill/Prudential or any other underwritten by UK Insurance their customer service team will be able to remove him from all marketing within their group.
