Max wattage headlight bulbs
« on: December 31, 2013, 07:38:05 pm »
Any one know what the max wattage of headlight bulbs you can fit is?
Or how to work it out!
I'm looking into fitting slightly higher than 55wats but I don't want to be fluffing up the wiring etc!

I'd just go for a decent 55w bulb like an Osram Nightbreaker. If you start upping the W, then you increase the heat and can cause your lenses to glaze/crack.

Pretty sure 55w is the highest legal wattage as well.

You would be better off fitting some quality bulbs as mentioned and also performing a wire/circuit check of your lights to ensure the full 12 volts are getting to your lights, as even a small impedence can reduce brightness huge amounts.

you can get higher than 55w but not road legal and the heat can turn the reflectors in the lights a yellow colour which effects the beam pattern
