Where to buy???
« on: January 04, 2014, 04:05:08 pm »
Hi

Been looking seriously for about 3 weeks for a MK5 GTi and havent found what I'm looking for yet.

I was wondering if there is anywhere else I should be looking other than the following

This site
Autotrader
Ebay
Pistonheads
www.motors.co.uk

Thanks

Liam

All of the sites you've mentioned are fine. As with any car buying, it's the details and the spec your after that will determine the length of your search and where you ultimately buy from.

The a few positive points about buying from a forum member is that you can see (if your lucky) the cars history through the owners posts, re a build thread, and generally being a forum member will mean the owners an enthusiast so the car may have been maintained above and beyond the required amount with the latest revision of certain parts etc.

Pretty sure there's a few Eddy's for sale ATM on here.

I would love an Edition 30

I've viewed 3 so far but each had their own issues which made me walkaway.

Ideally a non-modified version as I dont know enough about remapping etc to be confident in what I am buying

My budget is £9500 top

If this is unrealistic i'd settle for a standard GTi, my only preference would be a winter pack but its not essential

Have you tried gumtree?

It's free to advertise on there so more people would post an ad there first

The only thing that put me off the top one was the previous owner has just spent 2k and then traded it?

Seems suspect, I could be wrong

lol, what was the last one like?  (if you viewed it)

Just noticed, although it says it has Xenons in the description they look like halogens in the pics...

Definitely hold on for a good one! :happy2:

Yeah I viewed it.

The Xenons were aftermarket, not factory fitted, there were a few things I wasnt happy with
