I've driven 170 miles like this - How important are those hose feed positions?

You won't do any damage to your engine with the hoses the way they are.

fwiw with the first can version with the steel wool inside, the advice from BSH regarding the "freezing contents" problem that occured in the depths of the North American winter was to route the hoses like you have instead of the other way.

Maybe VWR weren't happy with the can  positioned on the driver's side...

No instructions or list of contents in mine either. So I downloaded from the BSH site and printed them.

It's not a big deal but I have to say it's not very professional of BSH.

....I'm not sure if you are directing that comment at myself or candy turbo, or both of us.

Definitely a good discount but all credit to Dubtek rather than BSH.

....No problem - I tend to get asked everytime I post a pic showing them. Anodised aluminium and not cheap but they are the first stage of something else I'm doing in that area (hence the problem with fitting my BSH can low enough in that area).

....Are you sure, bacillus? If mine is wrong to the current instructions I think I'll be swopping them over after checking to see.

Maybe VWR weren't happy with the can  positioned on the driver's side... 


....Well, they didn't think it was ideal in that position and tricky to empty without removal first, plus I wanted it low if in that position due to other plans in that area.

Yes, do switch the hoses as my original reply was simply meant to ease your fears that you may have done some harm by having your hoses reversed.

fwiw my buddy in the US ran his hoses like yours for a few thousand miles till I pointed out to him that they were not correctly routed. His car ran perfectly (with alot of logging done). He has now changed the hose positions.

Having your hoses reversed  makes the catch can less efficient but not harmful provided there's little content in the can and the vapours/gases can still freely recirculate.
