Newish owner from Dumfries
« on: February 05, 2014, 08:19:53 pm »
Hi bought this mk5 GTI about 2 months ago (just discovered how to upload pics) is in excellent condition and body/paintwork excellent for 8 year old car. The only prob was the discovery of the front wings showing signs of corrosion on wheel arches. VW are going to sort this out on Monday its going to Carlisle VW to get new wings/paint - VW paying for it! Its only got low 40k mileage and been very well looked after by previous owners. I recently changed the rear lower bumper so that i could fit a detachable tow bar for my little caravan. Very pleased with it so far.

Im waiting till after the wings and paint job are finished to see what kind of finish they do, hopefully theyll do a decent job. Its got most of the extras full leather upholstery, sat nav etc. I recently replaced the drivers door switch handle as the old one was a bit scratched. The rear boot badge had a bit of white worm so I got a mk5 handle with a mk6 3d badge on it from brookes32 - makes agreat difference the 3d badge is much better than the mk5 flat one. I have the old mk5 handle with badge and im going to put it up for sale on this site when i reach the required no of posts.

Ugh, makes me sick. VW (and Benfield) consistently fob off so many of us, myself included, with their 50% crap and yet people are still getting it paid for (congrats though). Ongoing saga for me.

Welcome along, car looks great
