What is this plug for?
« on: February 11, 2014, 04:23:09 pm »
So I lift my arm rest and notice the tray was loose. So I pull it out and find this:

So My question is is this for a cd changer? and if so can this be adapted so that I can have a 3.5mm AUX in, for reference I have the rcd510

Thanks :happy2:

Looks like where the CD Multichanger would go..so would assume that.

Take radio out.
Buy OEM Ipod or Xcarlink kit.
Or ebay for 3.5mm but no charging, no head unit control (using ipod while driving is illegal)
Plug into CD multichanger socket.
Run cable into glovebox
Boom.

Do you not need to have a rcd/rns 510 or 315 to use a mdi?

I believe so yes, the iPod Dock for the older units.

For the OP - MDI has a different loom than the cd changer so you would need that for the MDI  :happy2:
VCDS cable HEX-USB+CAN. New but can do the basics including coding

I believe so yes - if you can see some pics of an iPod doc you should be able to confirm. Ha a feeling someone is selling one amongst various parts in the for sale section
