Car back from bodyshop, not happy
« on: October 01, 2009, 08:48:11 pm »
A oldman drove into the side of my car the other day, basically head on into the driver side wheel at about 5mph.

His insurance company accepted liability straight away and arranged for me to get my car repaired and get a courtesy car.

On arrival to the bodyshop they agreed to refurb the alloy, respray the front bumper, replace the driver side tyre and do a full geometry check.

Got the car back today a week after taking it in to see that they have refurbed the wheel and replaced the tyre, put only resprayed HALF of the front bumper  So now half of my front bumper looks like knew and the other half is stone chip galore. It looks like that guy from batman, two face. Tbh the cosmetic damage was so light, that had I known they would do that I would have told them not to bother.

Also I noticed the rear offside tyre seems to have a puncture now, and I found the psi at 10 [:@]

The driver side rear tyre has been replaced with a brand new tyre for some reason, and two of my alloys have white paint flecks on them also [:@] The spacesaver spare has also been used.

The car has gained a extra 11 miles, and pulls to the right now at speed, however this has got better since pumping up the rear tyre with the puncture.

They also said they had to replace the offside knuckle as the camber was out? But I cant see any evidence of a new knuckle being fitted.

Now is it just me or has this bodyshop been taking the piss? As far as im concerned the car has come back in a worse state than it did going in.

Get in touch with the insurance company and let them know, inform the garage your not happy with the work and that it's going through the insurance company again and they'll brick it because they'll go straight on their black list for un profesional workman ship.

The White flakes will pretty much be compound that they use to mop over the paint after. But I'd certainly be on the phone to the insurance and the garage.

I've been there in the past where a garage painted my old car the wrong colour, 2nd hand parts etc and it'll probably take a large amount of time to sort.

Reminds me of a body shop in gloucester, nationwide crash repair, absolute bunch of cow boys, some bloke drove into my leon one day and also admitted liability , i took it to nationwide and they refurbed one wheel so the rest were scuffed, sprayed half the bumper and sprayed the wing, it was a completely different colour red as well, you havent signed any paper work have you to say you were happy with the job as once you have signed that paper work you are screwed

+1. Complain to the insurance company.

If you can twist it to say you no longer trust that bodyshop's work, try and see if you can get the work done a bodyshop of your choice!

Yeah I signed something, lady said it was signing the car back over. Sadly I got there just before closing time, and wouldnt have thought they could mess up such a simple job

the paper you sign is usually the paper to say your happy with it, i signed some paper work once and then took the car back and complained as i found niggles with it, when i went back they said that i had signed the paperwork to say i was happy with it and that the insurance had closed the claim as the paper work was signed, ring the guys insurance up and tell them your not happy, the car wasnt like it before so it shouldn't be like it now!!!

The paperwork is just for receipt of the car. It certainly didnt stop me complaining about the work. Just dont complain to the company, go direct to your insurance company who will deal with them directly and get all funds back from the 3rd parties insurer.

I signed the paperwork on my last car that had been crashed into. Called the insurance company straight up after i found all the faults and put in an official complaint.

The car was repaired for a 2nd time to a much higher standard.

mate, as i said in my text and what peeps are sayin here, u need to get onto the original people who called you about fixing it (his insurance) tell them asap ur not happy.

I dont know why they have not painted it all and done a no expense spare job, after all the garage wont pay a penny, they will make money from it! insurance covers all costs.. thats why seat loved me when i had a smash, brand new everyting!

IF you dont get anywhere then get the heavies down there.

NO excuse for 11 miles, ask them to explain and claim back petrol money! reall y b awkward and get it done right, after all, YOU are the victim here mate, its not like u are making a claim either

Had problems with insurance/bodyshops in the past.
Got my car back after two weeks and the lights wouldnt work, they sent someone out who popped the bonnet and realised they had forgot to put some bits back in the engine bay :/ some brackets or something.
The car had to be towed away and fixed again, it came back with two big scratches down the side, so i had to drive to the bodyshop( 30 mins away) they fixed it and gave me money to cover the petrol.... and the car still wasnt 100% as the exhaust was catching on the bumper and flaking the paint!
So i chose a local insurance approved bodyshop and they sorted it straight away

Gutted for you mate, nothing as bad as cowboy body men. Really winds me up when they leave previously gleaming cars in a state after 'repairs'. Don't let them away with it make as much fuss as you can until they sort it properly

i had a few issue with nationwide (proving biggest isn't best) on my a3, in the end norwich union assessor came out and authorised rectification work by another firm who did a roaring trade in rectifying others shoddy work
