Fitting rear wiper motor on Mk5
« on: February 23, 2014, 06:20:00 pm »
Hi, my rear wiper has stopped working and the fuse is ok - i was thinking of buying a used wiper motor from ebay , has anyone fitted one before and is it easy to remove the tailagate panel etc? Anything I should be looking out for when Im doing it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go to section section 6 in this link

http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,10027.0.html

I would be checking the tailgate wiring in the rubber section which flex upon opening and closing.

Also this may help

ok thanks for that I'll have a look at the wiring first - I take it if there is any fault with the wiring it will be fairly obvious to even someone like me who does not usually attempt these things!!

no it probably wont be obvious as the copper in the wire inside the flexible boot rubber can break, only way is to measure with a multi meter
Loads of extra's and retro fits.

When you get the rubber grommet out of the way, they tend to snap when you pull on them if they haven't broken already - what model and year is your car an I'll tell you the colours  of the wires you need to check if you need it?

If I was you I would be taking a few photos before hand of your external paintwork (around the wiper blade fixing area) and the tailgate plastic trim internally( the bit with the grab handles), just incase they have a bit of a job changing it! :happy2:
