Replacing Air-con Pump with Alternator?

Hello Forum!

My MK5 GTI is soon to have an upgraded audio system from the current one but I need to know the best way to get more power out of the car to run the system to avoid damaging the subwoofers or components.

Has anyone replaced the air conditioning pump with an alternator to gain the extra power? My air conditioning hasn't worked for a while now due to a leak and thanks to the very poor English weather I haven't needed to get it fixed.

Is this a better way of getting more power or would it be better to upgrade the current one?

The current amplifier that runs the subs and the components is a JL audio HD900/5 900RMS but I look to double this in the next few months. If you need some more figures I can try and get them over the weekend.

Any suggestions would be good.

Not run a better battery in the bay and another in the boot and mibby a powercap?

Problem with that it doesnt really solve the issue, if not enough power being created then eventually it will kill the batteries if on for long periods of time.
