Cheers, Phil :drinking:

No more mods planned but then very few of them ever were planned! These wheels weren't planned - Friend Chris, who has similar suspension etc to me, PM'd me and told me what a great difference his lightweight rims made and suggested I consider it. His are Team Dynamics. And then candy turbo suggested OZ and the rest is history, aided and abetted by Hurdy giving weight and science info. No regrets but there was a time when I wondered if I was doing the right thing.

....Yours by any chance?

Yes I think that Titanium ones would look stunning on a black GTI, especially the 'pearl' metallic black. I haven't seen any pics of such yet though - In fact not many GTI takers on this wheel anywhere.

Yep, I'm a Graphic Designer by trade, so I think I might just spend a couple of hours shooping it.

They do look much better than the TD's thats for sure. I like your write ups as, and this isn't a dig they are easier to read and understand than some of the Companies blurb. I was surprised you changed form the Monza's but its seems a worthwhile buy. You might also go round the ring & spa quicker if you got rid of the dirt of your car :happy2: :P

Awesome write-up as ever RR.

I had TDs on the mk5. Not a fan of the alleggritas either but form shouldn't preside over function.

Definitely something for me to consider should I ever turn the mk5 into a track day vehicle.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Thanks, Keith  :drinking:

I think they look more stylish than the TD's too, but the OZ are twice the price. The TD's satisfy a very relevant section of the market: Lightweight performance but at a cost which suits the occasional trackday driver. They are only a very small amount heavier than the Alleggerita's.

The lightest TUV approved wheel currently available is the 17" OZ Alleggerita.

With these being so light how robust are these rims...and how likely are they to warp/bend on UKs pot-hole ridden roads?

....As far as I know they have been well tested and I assume the TUV certificate means something. I've read that they use a strong technology which OZ have developed.

Like with any alloy wheel you need to take care when on rougher roads.

Nice review, Im looking for new wheels for my Seat Leon Cupra 2007. I want to replace the original 18" wheels with light weight 17" wheels. Do these 17" Alleggerita's fit on top of 345mm front brakes of Cupra? Or S3/R32 (same front brakes)? I know some 17" wheels do fit, I have a cheap set of 17" with my winter wheels. But would be nice to know if these fit before ordering.. Thanks for any info.

A Warm Welcome to the slippery slope of modding, JMP! :drinking:

Give Keith (Tyler) a call or email (details in my first post) - He's a genuine petrolhead and very knowedgable . I'm sure he'll be able to tell you. Do say "Hi" to him from me (Robin, red GTI, OZ Alleggerita's).

:happy2:
