Driver Information System
« on: October 10, 2009, 09:14:23 pm »
Hi all,

Picking up an 05 plate GTI on Wedensday that I purchased last week.

I have one question, do all the GTI's have the Driver Information System?  The dealer told me mine does not have it as it does not have steering wheel controls, is this correct?

It has a small display in the middle showing mileage, temp etc but should there be more?

Thanks.

Firstly Hello and Welcome  :happy2:

There are two types of DIS on the Golf, Midline and Highline.

The Midline is standard version which has basic info in the lower half of the screen and standard info/warning lights in the top half.

The highline is the optional version and includes a full height graphical display.

Its ridiculous that highline isn't standard, only a £50 extra.

It really irritates me that it doesn't have a washer fluid warning level either :fighting:

I think you could retrofit it if it really bothers you

IIRC it's one wire to the DIS.

It does if you have the proper headlights (or winter pack)

Washer fluid works on my car with the Hi-line... not sure if its becoz of the winter pack.  Seems a bit nasty to only enable it with the winter pack if you have the hi-line.
