The difference from stock to Revo Stage 1 was like night and day on a K03, I reckon you'll be grinning from ear to ear every time you drive it like I was! I think you get 280-300 on Stage 1 at R-tech, which from 230 will be a huge change. You'd need to bolt on a turbo to an R32 to get such an incremental increase.

I'm going to try R-Tech on my next steed  :laugh:

That said there a nice car for sure, esp if you get top spec. 

I just wouldn't want to pay top tax bracket again like my scoob

I had 2 K03 Mk5 GTi's then bought a normally aspirated BMW 330, and really missed the Turbo shove. Can't wait to get back.

interesting to hear that. Im in the market for a new car, need a 5 door due to twins arriving very shortly and after 2 mk5's i fancy a change so ive been eyeing up bmw 330 m sports or leon cupras. So you wouldnt reccomend the 330 then?

Get the cupra, mechanical wise it's better than the ed30 you get better brakes haha.

Not if you like an exciting, sudden surge of power and toque! I've had 3 six cylinder cars with no forced induction, and they are lovely, smooth cruisers, and there is plenty of power when you need it, but it's progressive, linear-increasing power. Bendy on here reports the same with his normally aspirated 968. He misses the turbo shove too, and I think he's going back to a turbo motor.

But a 335i or 335d, now that would be a different matter......!!

I too love the look of the R32, but I can't bring myself to own a big, heavy 4WD V6 car, so I just bolted the R32 rear end onto my GTI, may even put the front on as well and then have an R32-looking-GTI. Compromise...

(Real reason is I can't afford an R32) :sad1:

I guess deep down I knew the Gti was the one for me, but after reading the pros and cons I'm convinced and will stick with my lovely Ed  :driver:

I'll be booking in to R Tech soon for a remap, trying to convince my neighbour who also has an Ed30 so we can do the trip up from Kent.

I went from an 05 Gti to a 06 R32
Both dsg,I just love the noise and traction in all weather
Saying that I would also like an edition30 because of the tunability as my brother has a mk6 R and has just gone stage1
Drive one and decide yourself

If you're missing the traction of four driven wheels, maybe a diff will help?


Shadow blue DSG 5 door with leather, sunroof, 18" Monzas, MFSW. 
Full list of mods:  Seat inserts and a VW bottle opener.  Each worth 20bhp.
