Hi - nice motor mate - i have one in same clour and have been thinking of doing the roof in black and a black bonnet strip as its due for a full repaint soon so thought mght do that to it? any pics of that dne on thsi site as i am a newbie? cheers

small update

had this rear badge since boxing day but never got round to fitting it

last night i finally did, cheers to ben for the help fitting this, don't think my car wanted a new badge at one point lol

old badge; this was a flat vw and has got a small amount of white worm on it also

new badge; no white worm and embossed vw

front grills still away atm

still deciding on a colour to do the red strip on the new grill its primed, thinking either lime green, florecent pink or maybe even gold to tie in the lambo badges. This diff coloured surround will only be used for shows etc not every day

Looks a lot better mate, strip on front grill would look good in any of the colours you mentioned above!

Did you simply get the new badge, or a complete new mechanism?
It sticks out further than a new shape one does, so I'm assuming it's just a new badge stuck on. This is what I had to do to replace my old white wormed badge, but I had to butcher a mk4 bagde to fit.

Where did you get yours from?

it was a complete new badge and mechanism, its off the newer mk5 golfs, the badges changed after a certain year. This one was off an 08 plate ed.30

Thanks for that. It's odd though that it does not sit flush on yours like it does on the later mk5's. I wonder if the boot lid itself changed at all as well as the badge mechanism.

Yours looks like mine does now, sitting out a couple of mm. I was going to replace mine with a new shape mech, but if it doesn't sit flush, then I wouldn't be gaining anything so I might as well leave mine as it is.

I have an 05 GTI, and it had the older shape 1 piece badge, heard that mine was one of the last ones to have this, and that they changed 55 reg onwards.
Mine was a complete new mechanism, only took about 30 mins to fit, and looks so much better.

mine is a 55 plate and i had the old shaped badge

it took the same although the interior part put up a very good fight with removal lol

they make a big difference i think

Maybe yours was made 05, but not registered until 55? Have thought about carbon backing mine, though not sure, will probably just leave standard.

New update

got this delivered last night by the lad who was spryain it for me

probably fitted at the weekend hopefully along with my armrest if it arrives today

Arm rest is probably my favourite mod alongside my RNS-510 liver.
Yours is really taking shape now

Like it a lot being same colour as mine.

got my grill back on thursday and fitted on sat afternoon

sorry for poor pics, n97 jst doesnt seem to be able to take pics in artificial light

will get the camera out soon
