The leon inside is a massive improvement over the old one feels same as mk 7 gti with better seats , basically you get golf R performance with a gti chassis and you keep a few £ k in your pocket !!!

Golf R performance except for off the line speed or in wet conditions

Cupra 280 0-60 5.7s, Golf R quoted 4.9s (although been tested in wet at 4.7s).

In gear acceleration above 40mph are very similar.

Had I not got such a got such a good deal on the R I would have considered the Seat (apart from the depreciation fears!)

A lot of track test comparisons on line at the minute say the leon is quicker than the R , dont really bother me cause i dont spend much time on the limit , if i do track days use some one elses car ! Lol

Whilst I've yet to drive a 7R I can say that after driving the Cupra the Golf has a hard act to follow, the Cupra is seriously impressive!  :happy2:
Plus it doesn't come with the unbelievably large chip you'll need if you sign up to the r forum

You do get whopping discounts off Seats to ease that depreciation fear.

I managed £3697.34 discount on a DSG Cupra with nothing more than an email to DTD, Seat Stoke to supply the car if wanted via DTD all for the princely sum of £24.3K, not bad imo!  :happy2:

£5000 discounts were mentioned through broker4cars on the Cupra 280.

Very impressive cars but luckily my test drive was in the wet and reminded me why I wanted AWD so the decision was an easy one and I'm back onto the Golf 7R's again.

Limestone Grey FTW !!!

Update , drove the 5 door leon cupra 280 today ..... Its brilliant , its got golf r power in a tighter version of the golf gti with performance pack ! It just feels more special than the gti more driver focused
Ive made excuses and got my vw deposit back
Seat offered me more for my golf than vw did with out seeing it !! Seat staff are real people compared to vw morons !!
Test drive a 3 door on monday  :driver:

Got me thinking now. I was looking at the MK7 GTI after my MK5.
Might be paying a visit to seat!!!!

Update 2 ! Went to view / drive the 3 door cupra today , very good car but no discounts through the dealers and i can see depreciation hitting quite hard on a new car so was bending back towards the golf .....
Till i test drove a TT RS , any one who has droven one will know how they are lol
Deal done !

I've recently drove both the r and gti, and I've got to agree I think I like the gti looks wise better, but I still think the r is a very good looking car, saying that though after driving the R I couldn't buy the gti.

Also had a close up and personal with a golf 7 R and ive realised what spoils the look for me .... The 19" rim design dont suit the car they look much better with the 18" wheel design

Totally agree with you there. The 7R looks better with the contrast of the machined 18's
