Guillem Balague thinks Van Gaal will be the best fit for United, that bloke usually talks sense and would agree that him or Klopp would be best for going forward.
That continues to fu** me off a little - the automatic premonition that these top, young, European managers are going to want to leave their high flying domestic leagues for Manchester United in a flash.
You have to firstly analyse;
- Who would WANT to work with the Glazers, a group that continues to have a questionable and relatively unknown passion of interest in the Premier League and also who looks set to give their new managers around 10 months to acquire trophies?
- One of the main reasons anything previously went to United was because of the facilities/setup, history and SAF. One of those key factors has gone, so Utd aren't the most appealing destination for players/coaches/officials anymore, whatsoever.
- Who wants to inherit
that squad, the transfer funds aside? It was widely agreed by the football world a desperately overachieving squad for 2/3 seasons, one which was clearly superbly motivated and coached by SAF and team. There are no stars really left, Mata/De Gea aside.
RVP is very likely to go and Rooney is in the departure lounge of his career even at £300k a week.
- Why would or will a Jurgen Klopp leave what is a fantastic feeder club at Dortmund where he's likely to be on a superb package, with a more or less guaranteed Champions League finish season in, season out in the Bundesliga? They've been known recently to shock Bayern in cups and the league to silverware, not forgetting. Today's Man United is unlikely to offer that sort of challenge/silverware on a plate. United will be a hard slog for the top four even if they invest and the chances are, that manager has one to two season maximum to perform, as you're ultimately STILL replacing the irreplaceable. The Moyes stint will be forgotten given the track record of whoever comes in next and the pressure HUGE once again, with months to turn it into a performing & motivated squad.
I nearly fell about laughing when a friend said "the only one the fans will really be satisfied with is Pep Guadiola".
Better organise his plane to Manchester this minute then cause I'm sure he can't wait to leave Bayern
