Help: No interior light when opening doors
« on: May 02, 2014, 04:36:13 pm »
Does anyone know if the interior light should be coming on when the passengers side door is open?
It doesn't work when opening the drivers door either, So i thought it could maybe be the micro switch in the drivers door lock, But need to be sure if it should be coming on when opening passengers door?
The interior switch is in the courtesy position for it to work when opening the doors.
The interior light works fine when put into the ON position.
The boot light lights up fine when the boots opened too.
Just no interior light when opening either of the front doors (3 door model)   :sad1:

Any help or advise welcome. Thanks.

Interior light should come on when any door is opened.  My light stopped working when the doors were opened and I found that the switch was knackered so had to change the whole assembly as it's part of the pcb

I take it the micro switch is in the drivers door lock assembly like on the mk4s then?
I assume there is only a switch on the drivers side?

So is there a micro switch in both the drivers and passengers side doors? Or just the drivers side?

Both doors will have the sensor as they work for either side. Must be something else as I can't see both going at the same time. :stupid:

It's the roof switch, that has the sunglasses holder in and reading lights. I had mine go so I replaced it and haven't had a problem since

Should of said it was the switch in the roof that was knackered on mine. Vital bit of information left out there!

Whip out the owners manual. See if you're missing any fuses...check to see if the dome light is blown. I'm sure it's either a blown fuse or a short or something. Electrical problems...make sure you get them checked. It could be something small and lame, but I tend to not trust electrical issues in a car, see what you can find. If anything, go to a mechi or dealership.
