Hi,

The other day I was replacing my rear number plate light and I snapped the little clip that holds it in, no bother I drove into town (tucking the wire back onto the lip inside the bumper for "safe keeping") and bought a new one from the local VW indie.

Got home and during my drive into town the cable has slipped down into the inside of the rear bumper and I've tried forming a hook to find it to no avail, any other tips? or am I going to end up removing the top half of the rear bumper just to find this cable?

Only problem is it then failed the MOT on this fault last week so I need to get it sorted before the retest on Thursday!

Any help is very much appreciated or laughter at my stupidity will also be taken on the chin haha

take the other light out as the 2 plugs are joined together you should be able to find the other end, then get a piece of wire (or anything) and thread it between both lights now pull the lost plug you've just got back into the numberplate light hole,

job done
Loads of extra's and retro fits.

That's what I thought would be the case, however if the 2 are joined the join must exist further back than I can reach and theres pretty much no give in the wiring at all to pull it further through.

If its of any help The one I have is the passenger side one and the one I'm missing is the driver's side.  The wiring looks as though its going toward the passenger side of the car.

the wiring should come up the drivers side of the boot, really hope you get it sorted

fyi you won't just be to take the top half of bumper off, it would be the whole thing including removing the rear lights to do this
Loads of extra's and retro fits.

I couldn't find the wiring anywhere after pulling most of the car (except the bumper off).

In the end we ended up making a new connection to the side where I could find the wires and feeding it across to connect to the side without, all seems to be working now which is a bonus.

Thanks for the help anyway guys.
