I have decided to attempt to change the rear brakes and disks on my Ed30.
I am not a complete novice (seen every wheeler dealer at least twice
) but would like some advice on what tools I will need (I figure the cost of labour will be the same as it will cost to buy most of the tools)
Tools I believe I will need:
Trolley Jack
14mm multi-spline too
13mm and 15mm spanner
genuine Volkswagen grease for back of pads
Caliper rewind tool
Most importantly: latex gloves
I have found this howto video for standard mk5 and it looks straight forward, but could do with knowing if this is missing anything I should know
http://www.vwgenuineparts.co.uk/vw_golf_rear_pads_and_discs_replacement.shtmlI am in Nottingham so if some knowledgeable person in Nottingham would like to help out that would be appreciated.
Also where is the cheapest or best place to get the OEM parts for this and does anyone know what to search for?
My Touran is due for the same soon so I may try on the Touran first.
How would I know if the discs need doing? Is there a minimum size or should I just change them as well anyhow?
Thanks in advance.
