Fault code bingo
« on: June 06, 2014, 02:06:47 pm »
Had my car since January, since then its intermittently run like an absolute bag of spanners. The dealer and myself have thrown money at it to pretty much no benefit. Its really starting to annoy me cause until its sorted I can't think about mapping or upgrades. So far I've replaced inlet cam, tensioner and downpipe (which had a crack in it). PCV has been checked and appears to be working. I have a receipt for a Rev G DV fitted by Awesome for the previous owner.

Symptoms are MIL light on with inconsistent performance. An intermittent misfire at low revs/high gear and occasional loss of all performance.

Right, latest batch of fault codes:

001089 EVAP emission control
P0441-002 in correct Flow MIL ON

000768 Random/Multiple cylinder misfire detected
P0300-001 intermittent

000770 Cylinder 2
P0302-001 misfire detected - intermittent

008567 Bank 1 System to lean off idle
P2177-001 intermittent

Basically want to know if its a quick fix or if I'm better off swapping it for the Impreza I have my eye on. I've ordered an NGK coilpack for cylinder 2 but where do I start with the rest of the faults?

Sarcasm for free. Anything after that can only be considered as a bonus.

Just because you think you know something, doesn't make you an expert if you've just read it on the internet, y'know.

swap coil pack to another cylinder, see if the fault follows it.

Also disconnect the MAF and see what happens (you will get MIL for this but its more to test if the issues remains)

Do you mean drive with the MAF disconnected?

Changed coilpack 2, car worked fine and is now borked again. Went to goodwood and the misfire came and went. Car seems worse when the cars been run, then restarted and run from warm.

Fuel consumption is also garbage.

Taking it in on friday to be rescanned but my thoughts are now my DV has failed, even though its a rev G.

I really can't be arsed replacing filters/charcoal canisters/injectors etc. just want to get rid of it now.

Bump for the above.

Does the charcoal canister have to be replaced, or can it be blanked off (even if its just for test). I always brim my tank so I think I might have killed it and caused the P0441 fault.

The misfire/judder seems to have gone, but has been replaced with an utter loss of performance. I still have the previous owners receipt from Awesome for the Rev G (mind you it was supplied not fitted), so surprised its failed 9 months later.  Is it worth changing to D if i'm not having it mapped?

Update. Codes have gone and car is working perfectly.

I literally have no idea any more.
