Do those metal intakes (like that HKS jobbie) not increase intake temperatures and ultimately reduce performance?
Just thought that putting a metal pipe on a red-hot engine is counter productive or is it negligible ?
You can heat wrap anything.
Now, I have no hard evidence to say whether it works or not, it's just based on a theory - what I can tell you is I can kick hell out of the car on a 20 minute track session and the intake is still cold to the touch.
In terms of CAI benefit. I've had mine off and on twice and there's a noticable difference on the top end, I don't know if it adds BHP/torque, but it certainly allows the car to breathe better at the higher RPMs.
Note: custom made EVOMS bend/heat shield/airbox with hybrid 'S' wrapped in Mylar. Out of shot is a 50mm duct from fog grille to airbox.
