Milltek Exhaust Hangers Snap
« on: June 15, 2014, 10:06:25 am »
Hi All,

Always heard poor things about Milltek welds cracking - not experienced this but the bloody hangers have snapped.

I'm putting it down to poor design and the weight of the back box has killed them over time.

I'm assuming it's stainless steel, how easy are these to weld ? Or am I betting off getting in contact with Milltek and getting a replacement ?

Pretty annoyed as I would never expect a hanger to snap. Can't drive the car either as the back box drags on the floor. Was thinking wire it up as a temp fix but then there would be no give like a rubber mount gives.

Easy fix for a good local exhaust shop/welder. Result of cheap materials.

Can you contact miltek for a warranty replacement? They normally reply quite quickly when ever I've had a question.

I'm not the first owner of the exhaust. Previous guy did it. But I'd rather do that, but it's the time, need it for work and can only borrow a car for so long. Will fire them an email today regardless.

Bloody expensive exhaust !! What material are the hangers ? If there a mild steel then I can do it but if it's stainless then I'll have to pay someone to do it. Do you know if they mix materials ?

Looks like a mig weld so more than likely mild steel. Milteks weld looks pretty decent so probably a poor materials supplier, which is a shame as it will give them a bad name!

Personally i'd contact Milltek first and see what they come back with even if you're not the original buyer, if no luck then go to your local welder as it will be an easy fix.
