Just out of interest I spoke with a guy in germany who runs a garage there and he was raving about the turbo groove discs that EBC sell.

I've not had personal experience of these except on the rear of my current GTI.

At about £200 per pair not sure how that compares with OEM !

cupra race car down amd the other day is using ebc and the techs there said they cant fault them, even tho they are sponsored by them and get free brakes, they are worth it.. plus i just found a 15%off code and free delivery on all ebc brakes.. so £187 quid for BIG r32/cupra EBC Ultimax Sport Slotted Brake Discs

£200 per brake discs seems a bit cheap to me, and id be wondering why thery are so cheap. also dont forget theat he AMD race car will very likely only get one race out of them before replacing them, secondly they have a big 4"ducting pipe blasting them from the rear.

when i looked at the race cars on sat, the cupra race car had a BBK, the other was on std brakes(think it was a Fr race car)

Tarox G88 discs were meant to be good and come well reccommended for the 312 setup. cant find them in 345mm guise though

I actually forgot I had these, had some brackets made ages ago to hook these over the R32 disc - so you'd be halfway there. You would need some pads and hoses. Total Bill way less than your 2 piece discs!!!!!!!!!!

The people who prep my car also built James Pickfords Leon he won the Cupra Cup with (owners son).. they were sponsored by EBC, they also said they were utter toss... however, as much free brakes as you can eat when you're going through a full set a race, you take what you can get.

I used their kit for 1 track day on my MKIV and threw the lot in the bin the day after.

AMD sell EBC, they're not going to tell you its crap now, are they?

These are the tried and tested from my mates who run MKIV platform track cars, not sure if all come in R32 size? We've researched this a lot on uk-mkvs.

In order of best first:

ATE Powerdiscs
Zimmerman
Nitrac 8 Grooves
Tarox although the G88s are unecessarily unfriendly to pads.

Pad wise: Performance friction, Pagid, Carbotech. I have Carbon Lorraine RC6s, I wouldn't put these on anything other than an Alcon disc though, as they'll chew through soft stuff. DS2500s are an excellent fast road pad, they're not good on heavy cars on track if you're really pushing on.

Now, the really interesting bit...

ATE also do a semi 2 piece disc like some Audis and the MKIV R32 had. The hub is aluminium too, so lighter. See here N.B - yet to confirm if they do a 345mm disc.

Zimmerman likewise here... or, even better, here These are real!

If those come in MKV R32 size and I think the Zimms do, then along with ducting and your/Dave's calipers, I think you've found your holy grail.

Cheap floating 2 piece discs, Compbrake have some offerings off the shelf and Performance Friction have a massive list of rotors if you get some bells made up.

I had some EBC pads and discs on my Mk4 anni mike. They were as you say, utter toss!!

I changed the set up to Zimmerman Discs and Ferodo DS2500. soooo much better!

I found the part nos for the ATE ones. Apparently a direct replacement cast/aluminium hub 2 piece disc for the R32/Cupra/S3.
