TTRS Master Cylinder Upgrade
« on: July 05, 2014, 11:11:27 am »
Hey peeps after some advice again

I've been  considering upgradin the master cylinder on my GTi mk5, I briefly remember reading on here that the TTRS Master is a good upgrade but the bit im stuck with is the part number for the brake pipe that needs to be upgraded too

Thanks again

iirc DaveB suggested you only need one if you have a bbk.
Without traction power is nothing!

Alex at AKS was talking about these when I popped in there a few weeks back. They're a good complimentary modification to a BBK and improve pedal feel and some other bits that I didn't quite fully understand. I think he said he was going to start fitting them, or at least start with his own car as a demo car.

Either way, give AKS Tuning a call, ALex is pretty cool.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Are they straight fit? Or you need som more parts? Same For LHD and RHD cars?
I am about to fit my ttrs brakes and if this is a easy thing to do, why not do it know at the same time as the rest?! So what parts are needed? I have a LHD car btw.

You need to know the right one to match upto your car, I would go via Alex for this mod so Dave can spec the right M/C, I had 8 pots and the RS MC on my A3 and the braking was superb.

The pedal on the AKS brake kit feels amazing even on the oem MC

The thinking Behind it for me is for the pistons and pads to be able to release quicker (I think due to less back pressure?) meaning less unnecessary wear.
Also that Dave B advises that the oem MC is slightly 'underpowered' for the total surface area of the pistons.

I drove a car recently with the MC upgrade and the pedal was definitely firmer but it wasn't my car to put the setup to the test

I do keep changing my mind about it.  Do or die in September  :scared: lol
