Newsouth 3 gauge pods dash vent mount!
« on: July 14, 2014, 09:16:56 pm »
Has any one fitted this to their gti as I'm wondering what you do about the massive vent hole under it?? Or would this block it?

Just been looking at this myself right now... Scary.

I think I read on the Newsouth website that it blocks it off so you don't have to worry about it.

What gauges will you fit? I'm thinking of boost, oil pressure and oil temperature.

Looks good that, personally if running a mapped car I'd always have a afr gauge in there,

Is there any other options of pillar mounted gauges?

Not seen any pillar mounts.. Probably due to air bag deployment.. :/

I've not seen pillar mounts in a mk5. There's pods that sit on the steering column and under the centre console (above the ash tray). I may just go for a single boost gauge for now and fi the other two later as at £250 for the who set, it's out of my current budget!

Does the air bag carry all the way down inside the pillar, on my old Astra vxr there was an airbag in the pillar but due to the way it worked, pillar pods could still be fitted,

Yea the air bag does go down to about 1/4 way off the bottom of the pillar..

I'd also have to get them one by one lol

Awesome GTI are a little bit cheaper than PSI, but PSI Tuning service is great! But check this out;

Boost is top priority for me, so I'm probably going to get this in time for my interior swap.

Any pics of that fitted? Does it cover up much of the dash?

For the total cost and hassle of installing it (running the wires) would it not be better to get a polar fis? They look the nuts don't get me wrong but if it's for monitoring more I thought hat would be the best way to go?

Its just a way of life.

I've got the 3 gauge pod also just with boost in there. I plan on adding oil pressure and egt. And I want afr in a vent pod did have a column pod put didn't look as oe as the dash pod.

Personally i will run the wires through the gromet on the left behind the battery so will be better in the centre dash any way..
Also make for a tidy instal with the wires hidden in with the original loom..
