Is this normal?
« on: July 16, 2014, 02:38:35 pm »
Hi guys I have just recently purchased a VW Golf GTI mk5 with the dsg gearbox, it has only done 34000 miles and everything with it is perfect apart from I went for a drive in it today and Put it into sport mode and thought i could shift gears by pressing up and down on the lever but when I did it went to drive without me engaging the brake. After that I pulled over and discovered I could move from N to s and back again without touching the brake is this normal or should I get someone to check it out?

Any advise would be very helpful.

I do it all the time as I find D tends to want to get into 6th asap... slightly annoying when you come off an island and it goes up a gear. Then again manual on the paddles usually does it for me  :jumping:

It's a shame VW didn't put a variable setting sport so you could tame it down a bit... BMW smg box had it if I remember right.

Cheers for getting in touch I just find it strange that the brake has to pressed down to put it in park or reverse but I can move from neutral, drive and sport without touching the brake just touching the lever.
