Bcs exhaust difference
« on: July 19, 2014, 08:50:36 pm »
So I'm looking at purchasing a bcs exhaust powervalve from a forum member and am trying to work out the difference between sport and powervalve...

Both systems look the same apart from a valve with a smaller diameter pipe... Am I right in assuming the powervalve is quieter around town when off boost and the sport system is just louder all the time but both sounds the same when on full boost?

Cheers

Yeah you are correct :happy2:

Slightly louder than standard when driving around town/ cruising but still not OTT when on boost.

I had a blue flame system before the powervalve and there wasn't much difference "on boost"

Neither of the systems droned when doing motorway speeds either

I think this is the case although i own the sports system, and when off boost it is only marginally louder than the oem one.

You  are not correct in comparing the systems as you do.
There are basically 2 systems, sport and prestige, the difference being the diameter of the front straight through silencer. Sport being the louder one obviously.
Both systems has the option of adding a powervalve to the rear silencer enabling it to run straight through the rear silencer via a 3" tube when the required boost is achieved. Below the required boost it goes via a 2,75" tube through the dampening part of the silencer/muffler.
So a sport with a pw above the required boost will be louder than a sport without a pw. And the same goes for the 2 prestige versions. My guess is a prestige wirh PW is similar to the sport without PW.

I hope this makes sense?

Even the 'quiet' prestige system sounds fantastic. Superb exhausts, great sound, great fitment and great bulid quality and materials.

Nige you have a PM
