VWR Intake Install - Progress slows

So last night I was fitting my shiny new VW Racing intake to my girl and it wall all going smoothly until...

Last part of the install was to put the filter in place and tighten the hose clips. As I was moving it around to seat it nicely in its support bracket the darn coolant connection snapped off pissing coolant everywhere!

It all gets a bit tight under the filter housing and it looks like it sits hard against these parts putting a little stress on them - if only I knew this was gonna happen I'd have bout a replacement t piece before starting!

Main stealer can only get it tomorrow so here I am sitting waiting for a train while my girl rests patiently waiting for her operation to continue!

Can't wait thought - anybody else experience this?

All done...

Got a little howling sound between 3500-4500rpm now. Apparently it's common and all I've got to do is change the DV to a rev 'D' version and that's corrected. Think I currently have a rev G fitted but not sure.

Will do tomorrow and report back.

Its a good intake, the only problem for me was how quite is it, cant hear a thing, but some people like that....so hey ho.

Nice intake, don't fit a rev D diverter stick with the rev G

I managed to break the same plastic part on a Golf a couple of months back.  Coolant straight to the eye!  In the 100's I've worked on it's the only one that has done that.

After updating the diverter I still had that stupid whistle / howl...

Nothing obvious of any loose hoses so I removed the filter and ran it with just the stick, no difference except the whistle was shorter.

I decided to remove the intake and send it back.... I can't live with that whistle and everyone that looked at the car can't explain it!!

Ur running ko3 don't they whistle when an intake is fitted LOL

Haven't heard that so not sure... Bought a K04 and S3 injectors so of that's the case then it's not for long!!!

I notice your pipe to the filter isn't 100% aligned/straight. Must be a trait with these kits.

@bluo i think i might have done something similar to mine when fitting - currently have coolant leaking all over the place.

what was the part called that you ordered from the main dealer?

Bump - anyone know how to prevent this? Just had it fixed but the mechanic said it will happen again as it's putting pressure on it

Was speaking to someone on the mk5 owners facebook page who has installed this and to keep them apart he strapped the pipe before the filter to the battery box but still very close getting my VWR next week so will see

@irish_ram let me know how you get on. Love the VWR intake it's not loud and more subtle which is what I want. Just irritating this little design flaw wasn't thought out

That put me off buying one too, and the fact there is no flex coupling to allow for engine movement.   Given how thorough and OE+ Racingline products usually are, and given the massive price of it, it's very disappointing.

Can you not spin the plastic elbow round a bit to move the Teed off pipe out of the way?  Although having said that, it might cause an air lock if trapped air rises and can't escape.

@Pudding not much movement - I'm gonna have a go at trying to move a few bits around on the weekend and see if I have any joy.
