BSH PCV plate thread size
« on: October 31, 2009, 05:25:08 pm »
Does anyone know what size and sort of thread the plate uses for the 90 degree bends for the catch tank. I'm guessing with them being a American company the thread is NPT but without taking the entire thing off I've got no idea of the size. Wasn't impressed with the fitment of them when I installed it so I'm going to make some stainless ones at work.

If anyone has one any idea of the size it's help greatly. Luke.

Snapey,

I think you are right with it being a NPT thread.  What size?  Not sure.  I think it is the same size as the elbow in the top of the catch can.  I don't have the smallone, so can't help there.

are you looking to make elbows?  Would be interested in some if you get chance...................

Edit......  I may have a solution...........

Mr Snape,

Just looked at a 'converter' that i was given to get rid of the plasticelbows...............  That is the size of some pipework of the Ark Royal!

The Threads in the plate are 3/8" NPT, o/d at its greatest is .675" and it has 18 tpi.  Hope that this helps.

Sorted, Cheers for the info. I'm sure the pipe fitters will have some lying around at work but failing that I'll speak to them and I'm sure they can knock some up, obviously for work lol.

I'm a bit unsure whether to go for a straight fit or to tee it off at 90 degrees. Either way I'll look into it and try and knock something up.

The best solution would be elbows, but not sure on the clearance involved.  Also the 2 ports are fairly close together and to be able to fit both, the non threaded legs would have to be fairly short.

I think straight unions would be doable, however the hose may 'kink' due to having to exit at 90 degrees fairly soon after exiting the plate.

Let me know how you get on.

Yeah that's what I was thinking as I'm not sure on the clearance with the fuel rail, inlet manifold etc. either way I'll have a gander around some solutions on monday.

guys its worth noting that the race version with either a large catch can , or with a vent to air can uses straight unions from the block plate.
I personally didnt like them and plan to change to the road one (with plastic 90 deg bends) but that may help you.
They were inteference fit so didnt go flush. check out the website pics.

something I didnt realise until I had it in my hand  :happy2:
