Whats the Correct way to fit droplinks ?
« on: August 31, 2014, 09:50:23 am »
Hey Guy's

What is the correct way for drop links to be fitted, to the front ARB's?

Do both nuts get fitted to the rear of the shocks ?

or

One to the rear and one to the front?

if so which way is correct ?

Any photos would help !

 :stupid:

Thanks
Neil

I think you need to re-word it, I have fitted drop links and im unsure what you mean?

Do you mean which side of the drop link you attach first?

If so, you need to attach the top part first to the shock and then posision the lower part of the drop link to match the hole on the ARB, put nut on and tighten up.

Sorry Man !

It's just the way the drop links fit on to the shock, but have just found out both nuts get tightened on to the back of the shock...

Something told me, one Nut went to the back of the shock and one to the front of the shock.  But that would have made it un-even in my eyes,
I just wanted to make sure they have been fitted correctly, they are adjustable links, so yes just a bit of fine adjusting to get them right.

Maybe they fit other cars different ? I'm not 100% sure...  :stupid:

Thanks

For those who don't know, they do go on back to front, as the plate, that is attached to the struts is different on both sides, so even oem drop links would not go on the same....

I will upload pictures later to explain how these fit correctly....

But the plate that the droplinks attach to on the strut, one side is to the front of the strut and the other side sits to the back...

KW VWR Coilovers!

So makes sence for one to fit to the back and the other !

Please excuse the dirty photos, need to get it cleaned under there!

OEM vs Whitleline Adjustable !

Passenger side !
So this one fits ok, as you can see the plate attached to the shock, where the droplink attaches too, then down to the ARB, with the nut on the inside of the ARB.

Drivers side !
As you can see, the plate attached to this shock is to the front !

With the Oem Droplink set in to show, the only way this would fit, and also to have the nut on the inside of the ARB

Also set the ARB to Med , just to try it out... It has tightened the front end up, will know more over the next few weeks of driving...

Please Correct me if this is wrong or something does not look right !

I maybe did not explain it to well at the start.... :stupid:

has anyone got any further info on this? I'm wondering the same thing..

I just had AP coilovers fitted and when we were doing the driver side, the drop link appears to go in backwards..

the threads on the drop links always point towards the engine bay  when mounted to the antiroll bar, this way you can't get the top mounted wrong.

Well when me and my friend fitted my coilovers a week ago, we only had to undo the top bolt which connects it to the shock. So therefore, I must have it done correctly?
