Proper brake servicing procedure

Hello all,
I got a set of brake pads (OEM) for my mk5 and wanting to relocate them and service the brake system properly at a garage.

What steps are involved and should be taken beside the brake pads replacement ? Car is 6 years old, done 19000 miles and I doubt brakes were serviced at all. I feel them not working as they should.

So I appreciate if you share what's the best and correct steps of a proper brake servicing :)

I recently changed pads, discs and fluid. The pads were actually very healthy the brake discs were just within the limit. She is 9 year old at 90k

I would change the fluid and check the discs and pads. You did say 19K??

Thanks and yeap 19k (30,000kms) Do CALIPERs / piston need to be adjusted as well, after fluid change ? The discs look okay

When the calipers are off check the piston boots for damage.

Do the pistons need calibrating ? Or ensuring they are in correct position ? Just want to make sure nothing is missed out

Have a fluid change and ABS purge (the latter should be part of the fluid change at VW) ask them for it.

You will need a 'piston wind back tool' for the rear pads.
Do a search on here, I'm sure there are a number of options for this.

I didn't cycle the ABS when i did mine. I will do it next time.

No worries. Make sure you have a lot of juice in the battery and watch the fluid too.  The amount of black crap that came out first time I did it was shocking.

Hi, I'm a fully qualified mercedes-benz Tec if your getting them done at a garage ask them to do a mot brake test and get a print out

I probably get it done at the dealer and ask them to provide the proof. Here in NZ not many experts in VW and everyone wants to be the know how mechanic. And don't want to risk it with them.
