Finally got the trim from Eygpt so I have been able to finish my heatsheild/ airbox

I covered the underside of the downpipe heatsheild with tin foil and stuck it on with high temp silicone, hopefully this will reflect the heat as much as possible (I hope!)

And here it is fitted to the car

I put the rest of the trim onto the airbox this evening and fitted the rest of the system.

And here is the finished product!

Before;

After;

Must admit I am pretty happy with the outcome saying I started with bits of cardboard and didn't really know what I was doing!

Feedback would be great!

Cheers

No unfortunately not, I didn't think to to be honest, I just got carried away with the fabrication! I am sure there will be a small difference in temp but I cant see the work I have done making a huge difference. Painting it black wont have helped keeping the temp down but it definitely pleases the eye!

It's probably more of a benefit in the summer through slow traffic, where it should prevent some of the hot air being drawn into the intake. Still looks lush though  :happy2:

I love how it sit on the H&R springs I was leaning towards the Eibach Sport-lines but have now changed my mind.

I know you've put your standard springs back due to your steep drive but personally I would of moved house.  :signLOL:

Are you on standards shocks if so what milage are you on, I'm on 46k and just wondering if I need to change the shocks I would rather not to keep costs down but I'd like to know if I need too?

Thanks

I know it looked so much better but getting out and putting a ramp there every morning through winter is far from ideal! I might put them back on come spring  :happy2:

Mine is nearly on 60k and they seem fine, I am no mechanic but the way I see it there is no point in fixing something that isn't broken?! I may be corrected by a more knowledgable member but if I was you id just leave them until you get symptoms that they need replacing.

Yes see your point as long as it doesn't feel bouncy or anything - love the car a lot!

Re: Tornado Red ED30 (are these ED30 Spring?)

I wouldn't say it felt bouncy, I am far from used to the car yet and how it handles + power delivery so I havent pushed it yet. Someone said to me the other day that the car seemed a bit high for an ED30 which is making me think that the standard springs that came with it are actually standard GTI spring, as i understand the ED30's sit 15mm lower than the standard GTI?

Here is a pic of the car, comments would be great!

Cheers

Yeah I don't think it sits that high, before I bought my GTI, I looked at an ED30 and it sat about the same height as yours.
