UKPCC parking ticket
« on: September 14, 2014, 02:49:19 pm »
Hi all,

Received a parking ticket today for parking across two bays whilst popping into a shop. I've read online that UKPCC don't actually have any legal authority and that I can just ignore it? Has anyone done this?

The company are a a Private Parking Company (PPC) and cannot impose legally enforceable fines or penalties. PPCs call their tickets “Parking Charge Notices”, not “Penalty Charge Notices”. In law, they’re called “speculative invoices”.

Ignore it, even any subsequent letters demanding money.

Completely ignore it. They may eventually sell your debt to a collection company who will send threatening letters but will never follow it up.

I've done this many times and advised other many time too. The important thing is to not acknowledge any of the letters, do not contact them, do not try and contest the ticket.

fully ignore it , never reply to any letters etc. think the sent us 4 or 5 then gave up.
Don't have a leg to stand on in court so they just slap em about hoping people will just pay up out of fear.

As everyone else says  :happy2:

This happened to a friend of mine, and upon doing a bit of digging, he learned that if you have parked in a free car park which isn't run by a local authority (council) then you have not entered into a contract, meaning the company can do no more than send you false charge notices and 'lawyers' letters...

bin 'em!

Just be aware that this will go on for a long time, maybe up to a year! The letters will become more threatening, the companies will change and the prices will go up and down. Basically do not enter into any form of contact with them. Keep the letters as a paper trail of their ineptitude but do not reply. It goes away eventually.

Loads of information here   :happy2:

Long and short, private parking companies = no payment. They have to prosecute the driver, NOT the owner. How on earth are they going to establish that???

I would just pay it. I read loads of similar things and ignored it for 18 months. Got a really fake looking letter through from Northampton court and stupidly ignored that too. Ended up with a ccj and having to pay multiple times what the original fine should have been. Bite the bullet and pay it. It's not worth the risk.
