Hi all,
I'm planning an overhaul of the stereo / speedo / steering wheel on my April 2005 Mk5 GTI DSG. Currently it has RCD300, midline clock and non-flappy paddle, non-MFSW steering wheel. For info, I currently have working Cruise Control (retrofitted before my time) , but no flappy paddles ("manual" shift is to the left of Drive on the DSG gearstick as you might expect)
I've bought a few parts yet to arrive and am also being offered a few parts but all the differences between CAN buses, clocks etc. and part numbers are doing my head in
Here's what I have ordered so far:2006 mk5 Golf R MFSW flappy paddle steering wheel
Steering wheel control module - part number 1K0-953-549-G
CAN BUS Gateway - part number 7N0907530AN
VAG USB 12.12 Interface OBDII Car Diagnostics Cable
Pioneer AVH-X3600DAB (comes with Bluetooth microphone)
DAB windscreen aerial (wanna keep the no aerial look of my early 05 GTI!)
iPod cable to connect to glovebox
Here's what I have been offered:Highline clock off a MANUAL (??) 06 GTI - part number 1K6 920 972 D
Here's the quiz... Have I ordered the right stuff? What else do I need? Should I buy the highline clock that was taken from a manual car, for a DSG car?? If I do will it talk to the other bits I'm buying? I know I'm going to need a loom of some sort to get even some of the MFSW functions working with the Pioneer head unit - the big one for me is phone answer... any way of doing this?
Am I mad?!
I want: the head unit with a good DAB signal (not bothered about FM at all), working with MFSW buttons, flappy paddles working, highline clocks showing all info (although not bothered about highline showing sat nav, as this is taken car of on the head unit via Mirror Link)
I may also throw in to the mix that I am thinking of getting rear parking sensors / camera... but maybe that can wait!!!
I'm new on here, but I've heard
@Eddie-NL could be my best bet - with only 3 posts so far I can't PM him though, and I think he might be in Norfolk.
I'm prepared to do the work, given a good Youtoob tutorial and a socket set, but if there is anyone in Bristol or nearby that thinks they can help for reasonable rates I'd also consider this. Main worry at the moment is getting the right parts!!!
Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give a confused new GTI owner
