HPFP banjo bolt delete.
« on: October 01, 2014, 02:56:04 pm »
The banjo bolt on the HPFP is a pita.

Can the banjo bolt be replaced with something easier to get off. I remember reading you can replace with flexible hose is this possible?

In addition to the rubber hose you also have to replace the metal fuel lines and swap the banjo connector brass fitment for a bamboo connector.
Without traction power is nothing!

Do you think this is worth doing? Anyone done it?

I've done it!

Got the fuel lines with rubber hose off ebay so just needed the brass bamboo connector and a couple of VW clamps.
Without traction power is nothing!

So you replaced both solid pipes banjo and the other one?

The metal fuel line is the most expensive part so unless you can source a cheap second hand one from a breaker's yard I wouldn't bother.

Found this on ebay.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2009-AUDI-TT-2-0-TFSI-FUEL-LINE-PIPE-06F127509AB-/231184944962?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35d3b24f42

Anything else i would need?

Yes, iirc you will need the rubber hose 06F 127 511 B to connect to the hpfp bamboo connector (you will need this brass connector but I don't have a part number) and three N 906 867 01 vw spring clamps. One of the clamps is to replace the one on the hose for the N80 purge valve, the other two for either end of the  06F 127 511 B rubber hose.
Without traction power is nothing!

Just out of interest, why do you find it a pain in the ass?   I replaced my cam follower recently, and the only troubling I had was doing the nut up on the fuel line next to it. Do these banjos fail, or do you want to change it because it's easier to remove the hpfp?

It took me about 15 minutes to remove the HPFP 12 minutes remembering with socket, extension and ratchet to use. There is a reason they did away with the banjo bolt if it's a cheap easy fix i will do it.

You can install this without removing the intake manifold. You may need a crows foot to loosen the nut that fastens to the pvr that's on the underside of the manifold.

Great so with the crows foot is should be easy? Any idea on the size?

Can't remember the exact size but when you get the fuel line, you can check the size of crows foot needed as the line comes inclusive of the nut.
