Hi everyone,
Thought i just introduce myself to the forum, My names Jack, im 20, and an estate agent (hold it in..)
Basically i love my dubs and sadly recently sold my mk4 golf gti 1.8t. But the mileage wasnt getting any lower, a few bits needed doing soon and as values have tumbled i thought it was the right time to get out. So i stuck it on pistonheads, 2 days later...gone!
Ive always wanted a mk5 but they were always a long way out of my price range, however prices have fallen and by march (when i will have enough $$$) they should be a little cheaper.
In the meantime im raving it up in a mk4 astra 1.6 ls £650 bargain! But not fun :(
I know alot about mk4s...however i dont know a great deal about mk5's and im one who wants to know anything about anything before purchasing to aviod making mistakes!
So im after a mk5 GTI 3 door in black with full leather, xeon lights and the winter pack. No rough high milers, a stock, mint, swirl free gti.
Im abit of a detailing geek, so no matter how mint one seems when i buy it im sure i will have to get the buffer and all my compounds on it! :)
All im really asking for is abit of advice on the mk5, a few simple straight forward pointers, just so i dont miss anything.
Only things ive heard were the seals are abit dodgy on the doors and boot and that the d's on the early models are prone to failing once remap'd
Plans - ( i know they always change)
very simple, stage 1 remap with blueflame or miltek exhaust, itg panel filter, kw lowering springs (had kw coilovers before, just fancy abit of comfort and no fart arsing around with arbs!)
pescara alloys in a light anthercite or genuine bbs ch.
So that the rough idea i have in my confused mind.
Anyway look forward to chatting with everyone, you seem like a nice bunch ;)
heres my old car just so you know what my taste is like.
Cheers!
